Learning to Practice
Practice makes perfect...right? Well, no, not really. Practice is how you learn things. Showing up to practice is not the hard part, the hard part is knowing what to practice, when to practice it, and why you are practicing it. The good news is, I will show you how to practice piano the proper way so that you are not wasting your time. In this lecture, I will use the example of brushing your teeth to explain what a good practice session is all about!
Who would've thought brushing your teeth could be such an interesting topic? You'll soon start to realize that everything relates to one another. In the exercise video below, now it will be your turn to find a simple activity such as brushing your teeth, that you can start to do with absolute focus and attention to detail. Learn to slow these activities down to slow motion so you can analyze each movement!
Before leaving this lesson, think about what Aristotle once said:
